ReSound Sensia is the newest premium hearing aid family from ReSound, and it targets a specific frustration with AI-powered hearing aids: the device works hard to clean up sound, but sometimes emphasizes the wrong voice, or treats background music as the thing you were trying to listen to. Sensia is built to keep attention on the person you are actually facing, and it does this without giving up the small size and long battery life of its predecessor, ReSound Vivia.

What Makes ReSound Sensia Different

Sensia brings three technologies together into a single automatic system called Intelligent All-Around. Rather than asking you to switch programs when the room changes, the hearing aid decides which features to engage and when.

Key Features of ReSound Sensia

• Intelligent All-Around - The automatic sound-processing system that coordinates environment classification, directional microphones, and AI noise reduction. It is available at the top technology level in the rechargeable microRIE style.
• AcoustIQ Environment Classification - Samples your surroundings continuously and identifies what kind of listening situation you are in. It waits for a consistent pattern before switching modes, which prevents the device from jumping between settings every time a sound briefly changes.
• 4-Microphone Beamformer - Four microphones work across both ears to create a forward-facing beam, giving priority to speech in the direction you are facing. In practice, you hear what you look at.
• Automatic DNN Denoising - A deep neural network reduces competing speech and background distraction around the person you are listening to. Pairing it with the beamformer is what keeps the focus on the talker in front of you rather than the loudest voice in the room.
• Auracast and Bluetooth LE Audio - Auracast broadcast audio is functional now, not waiting on a future firmware update. You can select available broadcasts in theaters, airports, and other venues through the ReSound Smart 3D app, alongside standard streaming from your phone.

Who Is ReSound Sensia Best Suited For?

Sensia suits patients who spend time in restaurants, meetings, and other multi-talker settings and want the hearing aid to handle the adjustments automatically. It is also a good fit if you want a very discreet rechargeable device without trading away processing power.

The rechargeable microRIE and ITC/ITE models are rated for at least 24 hours of use, with roughly 30 hours possible depending on how you wear them. Sensia comes in a range of styles including rechargeable microRIE, size 312 and 13 RIE, CIC, ITC, and rechargeable ITC/ITE.

Two other options are worth knowing about. A CROS transmitter is available for patients with little or no usable hearing in one ear. ReSound Sensia Bimodal is designed to work alongside Cochlear Nucleus sound processors for patients with a cochlear implant on one side.
